It has been three years since The Dispatch first posted our “manifesto” explaining what we were setting out to do. Since then, there has been a great deal of growth, and there are exciting things on the horizon. For tonight’s Dispatch Live, Steve will take members’ questions about all of it. He will be joined by Declan, who has been at The Dispatch since Day 1.

    I don't comment much, but I want to buttress Steve's deferring of a mobile app until later. Focus on the mobile website first and foremost. I work in the software engineering space, and see mobile apps can be a fairly sizable cost/investment. The Dispatch should be pretty clear on the cost & benefits. Mobile apps are nice, but I don't want to see any of The Dispatch's early investments squandered or facing large cost-overruns.

      I thought I saw a mention of it somewhere - The Morning Dispatch maybe? Anyway I wasn't able to watch at 7 (Central) and came looking for the replay but I can find no hint of it.

    One comment regarding an app, please do not do what substance did and treat Android users as second class citizens. I get that it is more work but for those of us who aren't in the Apple walled garden, we definitely want to be treated with the same respect that Apple users are when it comes to apps.

    Thank you both for all that you do here. I’m sure you’re getting complaints (I’ve had mine, though I’ve tried to avoid airing them) and transitioning to a new site can’t be fun. But subscribers (at least many of us) appreciate your hard work and look forward to the coming improvements with the site.

    What's the obsession with an app from the community? What is the benefit over a mobile enabled website? I'll try to be flexible but from my uneducated point of view an app is redundant

      I'm with you on this, the pro app people say is easier on mobile, but I've not found that. Early mobile, yes, apps were nice but browsers have improved.

        I agree - focus on the mobile website first and foremost. App can wait for later, or even much later. I know they can be a decent-sized investment ($$$).

    Hello, just a quick question. I notice that I am getting posts from Barri Weiss, asking if I would like to become a paid subscriber. My assumption was that she is part of the Dispatch team, and I thought that my subscription would cover all Dispatch posts. Is this not the case?

      Bari Weiss has a substack called "Common Sense." Perhaps you signed up for the free tier of that at some point and are getting attempts to convert you to a paid tier?
