I enjoy reading and listening to Jonah. Same goes for David French (and add Kevin Williamson over at NR into the mix). Why? Is it because I agree with every word written or uttered? Um..no...but all are interesting thinkers and I like to hear what interesting thinkers have to say about current topics (or not so current topics). Sometimes they say/write things that affirm my beliefs but when they don't, they sure give me something to ponder. The day any of them engage in fan service, particularly partisan fan service, is the day we all lose bigly. So for the love of god Jonah, you keep doing you. I hope you pour yourself a nice glass of Glenmorangie 18 year enjoy the fact that the vast majority of us read and listen to you precisely because you doing you is pretty darn interesting. Even when you are essentially just talking to yourself for 74 minutes. : ) Be well.
I think your concern with those who criticize you when you mention Trump is a distraction and can lead to you avoiding important topics for the sake of trying not to alienate readers/listeners. The reason I subscribe to The Dispatch is to be able to get good information that hasn’t been filtered through the team loyalty screen. You can choose to be a patriot or a party loyalist. There was a time when you could have been both, and that time may come again, but, at least for now, if your loyalty is to the constitution you can’t be loyal to either party. It is important that you keep agreeing with Trump when he is right and criticizing him when he is wrong. If you do that, you will always be attacked by Trump loyalists and some staunch Republicans. Your job is to be an honest observer. You are doing a great job. Keep it up.
