So how should Christians be approaching the midterm elections? Apart from the basic question of who to vote for, are there perhaps deeper questions to consider? What about the fact that 60% of Americans will have an election denier on their ballot this year? Is our democracy as unstable as a game of Jenga?     Help! Just listened to this podcast and in some ways I am more confused. I am in a state that I feel both choices are honestly bad. David says he wouldn’t choose either, Curtis tells me I must vote. Well what the heck am I to do? Sheesh.
    Love you guys more than you can understand for the voice you have given my spirit…..but I have no clue what to do on 11/8.

    This podcast got me thinking about something...

    I've had friendships strained over stolen election nonsense, so I'm certainly not an election denier. Like David, I'm very unlikely to vote for my congressman (Gary Palmer, AL-06) again, nor will I ever vote for Tommy Tuberville for Senate (though as an Alabama fan, I knew he was a snake 20 years ago).

    That said, is there a danger in going "Believe All Elections" a la "Believe All Women" or "Believe The Science™"? What are the markers to look for to know if there's legitimate concern?

    I think it's a safe bet that if a Republican (especially Trump or DeSantis) wins in 2024, the Democrats will go full-on STOLEN ELECTION with no regard for anything they said previously. I hope we can be better than that, but to do so we have to be wary of absolutes. Only a Sith deals in absolutes.

    I used to be willing to vote for the lesser evil. My experience in the past few years has caused me to decide always to vote *for* someone, never again *against* anyone. The former is counseled by the best wisdom I can muster; the latter is counseled by fear. I need to be able to justify my vote without shame at the Throne.

    Really great listen. I have been struggling for weeks with how I am going to vote and this podcast gave me some great clarity. While I understand the concept of voting for the lesser of two evils, this election like David pointed out has a lot of candidates who are disqualified on both sides for different reasons and voting for either is really not possible unless you go against your principles. To my fellow Wisconsin voters who are in the place and those around the country, know you are not alone. Follow your heart. Thanks to David and Curtis for making me feel much better and less anxious about my decision.

    I found this discussion very helpful when thinking about national or obviously partisan statewide offices, but what about down ballot? I'm currently staring at my California ballot and I have 17 judicial "races", most of which are nonpartisan offices with a "yes/no" choice, but one is an actual race with multiple candidates. I also have races such as the governing board of the local community college district.

    I want to approach these responsibly, but it's hours of work to do the research and many of the candidates don't have a prominent online presence anyway (since they're not necessarily campaigning for the job).

    Then there are the propositions... We're at a record low of 7 this year, I think.

    David, if there's nobody who deserves your vote, make sure to vote in the primary. It's true that there is (in most states) no party affiliation to help you decide how to vote, but you can use www.iVoterGuide.com to find out where the candidates stand.

    Because of gerrymandering, the outcome of most races in the general election are pretty much determined in advance. Because of this it is sometimes more important to vote in the primary than the general.
