In this special episode of the Good Faith podcast we pause to reflect on the tragic shooting in Buffalo and explore its underlying racial motivations, so-called “white replacement theory.” Joining David and Curtis (and producer Kris) is our special guest Chuck Mingo, pastor and founder of Living Undivided. Chuck helps us unpack some of the history behind this insidious “theory” and why its scarcity mindset is in direct contradiction to the abundance of God revealed in the Bible. The discussion also explores the connection of this current tragedy and its motivations to broader understandings of immigration, as well as to the nation’s past history of racially motivated violence like the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre.

    Excellent podcast. One thing that may be worth further exploration: why is replacement theory necessarily an argument to be destroyed (2 Corinthians 10:15) in Christian circles while critical race theory is not?

    Great podcast. I'm a Tulsan and your description is fair. My wife grew up in a diverse neighborhood and attended a diverse school. She knew nothing of the Race Massacre until she was an adult.

    On a related note, the faith leaders in Greenwood have been blasted by those on both extremes - some jealous for power with no heart for reconciliation and others who deny, deflect, and add to the racial injustices. But man, like those at Greenwood Rising, have led with courage and grace.

    All in all, an excellent podcast on a sad situation.
    I have some of the bad habits that this kid had; spending too much time online, getting my news from Reddit, etc.
    Mind you, I've stayed away from 4chan like the plague, but still. Being terminally online will only lead you down a dark path.
    That's why I'm trying to read more books and more articles at places like The Dispatch.
    I pray that this theory never gains more traction than it already has, but I fear that it may be too late to stop its spread.
    White Replacement Theory is at odds with both the Christian worldview and the American experiment. It matters not what ethnicity we are; we could all be half-Indian, half-Irish people and that would not be a bad thing at all. All that matters to me is what people believe.

    Stanford talking about Asia sending the "dregs" of their society should sound uncomfortably close to a certain somebody recently talking about Central America "not sending their best." That's a big oof.

    Also, as David mentioned, the story of racialized power in urban segregation has been often repeated in many cities. Specifically, in Buffalo, NY one of the reasons why the neighborhood where the shooting occurred is because the Kensington expressway was built to make it easier for whites in the suburbs to get into downtown Buffalo. The expressway cut through a vibrant Black neighborhood, destroyed a beautiful park and literally cut-off the majority Black Humbolt Parkway neighborhood from the city.

      The story of the highway illustrates another reason for me to hate eminent domain: it can be used to steamroll people you hate. I do not know whether eminent domain existed in ink at the time. Its spirit guided that highway's placement, however, in its manifestation of systemic racism.

      Same thing happened in Chicago. The Dan Ryan expressway ripped right through black neighborhoods on the south side.

    I'm glad that Curtis mentions that Replacement Theory is based on a lie. Ibram X. Kendi's piece in the Atlantic references how white supremacy is based on a lie.

    The “white replacement theory” is absurd as well as un-Christian.
    1. Whites cannot be replaced unless they don’t reproduce. Just have kids!
    2. Blacks would increase above their current 13% if the black abortion rate went down: it’s now considerably higher than that of other ethnic groups. Yet the left keeps bemoaning how “racist” it is thet poor black women are not getting the acces to abortion that they need. Very weird! but that’s my Washington Post.

    The world of the future belongs to those who have the children to populate it! Shouldn’t that be obvious?
