Armed with a smorgasbord of booze, Jonah reunites with Rep. Mike Gallagher for another half-baked extravaganza, in which the duo’s efforts to annex Greenland may finally come to fruition. Trap doors beneath escalators, dad-centric dating apps, and various bovine innovations are among the undercooked ideas proposed for your listening enjoyment, as well as a few novel solutions for the domestic crises sweeping our nation.     GREENLAND and... ALBERTA? About 20 years ago we took a Smithsonian tour to Alberta to see the northern lights. One of the daytime activities (to keep the group occupied while waiting for the nightly excursions for northern lights viewing) was a tour of the oil sands fields near Fort McMurray. At the time, the price of a barrel of oil had risen past the break-even point for operations there, and so production (and supporting infrastructure, like building roads and barracks for workers) was gearing up rapidly. At some point a discussion arose about whether the operation could continue if oil prices retreated again, at which point one of our fellow travelers from Texas said "Why don't we just annex Alberta? That'll solve that problem". So, not my half-baked idea, but just passing it along for your consideration... // Thanks for another fun episode.

    Although I like the title of "Devil's Golf" for the 666 course...
    1. 666 should be called Beast Golf if we're going to go all Revelation
    2. I had a similar idea years ago that was based on 3s. A par 3, 4, and 5 connected to each other (1 out, 2 back...2 out, 1 back)...which would match the "normal" course if you played enough.
    This would get the players back to the clubhouse for beer/sandwiches/bathroom twice as often as the 666 version, and would shotgun start twice as many if you actually built 18 holes.
    3. While introducing half-baked ideas...combine the golf course with a cemetery. People would be buried in the rough area. Flat stones. And you could pay to have your stone angled to bounce people back into the fairway...OR...if you hate your fellow man...your stone could bounce them out of bounds

    I know I'm the umpteenth person to say this, but I find Gallagher infuriating in the same way as Crenshaw. Both are smart and personable. Gallagher in particular sounds like a really good guy.
    Both have sound ideological views when asked. Both have served their country in war so are beyond reproach as to their personal courage and patriotism. And yet both have utterly failed to protect their party and the republic from an attempt to destroy constitutional government.

    Jonah, it was you yourself who said "politicians will always disappoint you." True - but there is a level of disappointment that is just too much.

    The half-baked ideas episodes are not among my favorites, but I got into this episode more than the past one. The drinking in the previous episode turned me off in a big way and, at the end, seemed to me unprofessional. This one was a lot better.

    I've just learned, through the comments, that Representative Gallagher didn't vote for impeachment. Disappointing. I wonder, though, if some of the commenters, who didn't want to listen to Gallagher b/c of his vote, would feel the same about Senator McConnell, who also voted against impeachment. But he is still a hero (and a deserved one). If he were a guest, I'd love for Jonah to ask about his impeachment vote(s) and Trump's continuing influence on the Republican party and where he sees the party going in the future.

    I hate the nickname "JoGo."

    I love the Remnant.

    A half-baked idea for next time - Congress do its job. They legislate. They hold presidents accountable for their unconstitutional actions. They repeal the APA and make the laws for our country and stop ceding so much power to the executive branch and to its various agencies.

    I was literally just talking with my girlfriend about the concept of half-baked ideas. She pitched to me a court jester for Congress, where one person is hired to absolutely goon on the other party. If a member of Congress wanted to prank another, they would have to pay $1,000 to a charity of some sort, and then they'd be able to hire the jester/clown to befool the victim. Some limitations would have to be made, but perhaps that would allow less self-beclowning of members of Congress?
