Update: This Monthly Mailbag has closed; Wendy answered readers’ questions here.

Dear Dispatch readers,

Thank you to everyone who participated in March’s Monthly Mailbag with associate audio and video producer Victoria Holmes. To read about how her faith informs her professional life, her work producing Dispatch podcasts, and her time as a Chick-fil-A employee, be sure to click here.

This month, Wendy Lane Cook, our new deputy managing editor, has raised her hand to take on all of your questions.

Wendy joined The Dispatch last month after several years as the managing editor of a local media outlet in San Antonio. Prior to that, she spent time as an editor at the Washington Post and as a writer and editor at the Associated Press.

As you’re thinking about questions you have for Wendy, here are some suggested topics:

  • What readers of The Dispatch and readers of the local news publication where she previously worked have in common;
  • Why, after living on both coasts, she headed back to her native Texas when her children were ready for high school;
  • Her experiences covering five Olympic Games, and the events she’s most looking forward to at the Paris games this summer;
  • The true taco capital of Texas;
  • How she thinks George Orwell missed the mark slightly when he wrote, “The greatest enemy of clear language is insincerity”; and
  • Her favorite crime novelists.

Drop your questions for Wendy in the comments section on this post, and keep an eye out for an email with all of her answers at the end of the month!
