Was Halyna Hutchins Working on a Documentary About Pedophile Rings?

No.

A viral Facebook post claims that Halyna Hutchins, the cinematographer who was fatally shot by a prop gun on the set of the film Rust on October 21, was “attached to a controversial upcoming documentary about alleged pedophile rings in the entertainment industry.” The claim has also been shared on Instagram

This is a false claim.

Hutchins was not working on a “controversial” documentary about “Hollywood pedophile rings.”

The widely shared claim does not come from a reputable news source.

The false claim originated from an October 24 article from World Grey News. World Grey News describes itself as a “prank news website.”

The website states that the “purpose of this website is fun. It should be used for joking with your friends. We are not responsible for the content. If you are insulted with some content, send us the link on worldgreynews@gmail.com, and the content will be deleted.”

The website also provides readers with the option of creating their own “fake news,” describing the tool as a “fake news generator” which can be used to “create your own joke news articles.”
