    Kevin's Bill Weld story made me chuckle. I recall another story: Once when Weld was asked how his old New England family makes its money, he responded, "Oh, the Welds don't make money. The Welds *have* money."

    I'd have happily voted for Weld/Johnson in 2016, but alas, the Libertarian Presidential ticket was in fact Johnson/Weld.

    Wasn't able to join live last night, but watched it this morning. Really good episode. David brought up a point I think about often, regarding our younger generation's understanding of conservatism and politics. I've actually apologized to my kids for it (when they've ask me about some crazy political incident), and explained that this isn't how things have normally been.

    I have what I imagine to be an amateur question about these classified materials scandals that I hope can be answered: How does one prove that Joe Biden (or Donald Trump) are *individually* responsible for the mishandling of classified materials? Would there need to be evidence that they physically moved the material themselves? Would there be a clear case if the materials were sent properly, per 5 CFR § 1312.28, with Biden (Trump) as the recipient? Something else?

      I had to look that one up. Oh my!

      At most, I'd say that falls under the purview of The Dispatch Podcast's "Not Worth Your Time" segment. An advisory committee can suggest any kooky thing they want. And this takes the cake for kookiness. Pure performative virtue signaling with no chance whatsoever of actually happening.

      Still, let us hope that the good people of SF (my old town - I lived there in the latter half of the 90s) demand that the city's leaders never again ask these particular kooks for advice. I would not be surprised if they do that. San Franciscans did, after all, recently send several members of their school board packing.

        I probably wouldn’t have known about it except that my husband and I have a subscription to National Review, which we hardly read. They send “Breaking News” alerts throughout the day, it seems. Some are hardly worth anyone’s time IMO, but this one caught my eye.

        Still, I had forgotten about those school board members. There are so many things that would have to happen in order for this to work, that it seems totally implausible. I often find myself wondering: what are these people thinking? And believe me, I feel that way about the far right, too!
