It’s a busy weekend here at The Dispatch, with two episodes of Dispatch Live for members to tune into.
As we mentioned on Tuesday, we moved this week’s episode to Saturday afternoon, both to mark the second anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and to allow two Ukraine-based reporters—Bennett Murray and Tim Mak—to participate from seven time zones away.
Bennett is a freelance journalist who recently wrote a deeply reported piece for us after spending a week-and-a-half with Ukraine’s 29th Mechanized Brigade on the frontlines near the Russian-occupied city of Bakhmut. Tim is a journalist and former U.S. Army combat medic who in 2022 founded The Counteroffensive, a Kyiv-based publication aimed at telling “the personal stories of people threatened by authoritarianism.” He last joined The Dispatch Podcast in December, and recently published an investigative piece detailing the battle of Antonov Airfield, which saved Kyiv from Russian occupation early in the war.
They will be joined by Steve, Jonah, Mary, and Declan at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT to discuss the state of the war, where the effort to provide additional U.S. military aid stands, and much more. Information on how to tune in can be found below:
