Did CBS Conflate a Latinos for Trump Rally With a Biden Event?

A viral tweet claims that CBS portrayed a photo from a Latinos for Trump event in Phoenix, Arizona, as being from a Biden event.

The claim was repeated by conspiracy theory website Gateway Pundit in an article that went viral on Facebook.

While the larger story being covered by the CBS segment was about Biden courting Latino voters, the anchors were discussing Trump’s successful appeals to conservative Latinos at the moment that the screenshot was taken. As the images from the Latinos for Trump event flashed across the screen, the announcer stated: “the president has cut into Biden’s advantage by wooing conservative Latinos with ominous warnings about a Biden presidency.”

When watching the news segment, instead of relying on one still image to pass judgement, it is clear that CBS was not attempting to pass off the picture as being from a Biden event.

    Ah HAH! I did see this on conservative twitter.

    I didn't see the full context (and I was not going to re-watch 44 mins of video to find it), so part of me was like "It's possible the dems did something stupid again in editing". Didn't think much of it beyond that.

    But now that Dent has done his quick and spiffy fact check I can now say, "Taken out of context!" and be 100% accurate.

    Is Gateway Pundit a “conspiracy theory website”?

    I’m asking genuinely...I hadn’t ever visited the site, although I’ve definitely heard of it.

    I just took a quick perusal and egad it’s definitely slanted and has an agenda (did they ask Hannity to hold their beef?) of bro-love for Trump (oy).

    But (and in fairness, this wasn’t a deep dive for sure...I do have a life after all), I didn’t see much in the way of “conspiracy theory” there. I’m not saying there isn’t some there somewhere. But if you’re describing something as such I’d have figured I’d find obvious evidence of it on just a casual observation. Is there a history of it there through which they’ve earned the pejorative?
    Or is it just a mistake by the author here or worse, the same sort of sloppiness and lazy us/them porn that I subscribed to TD to get away from? Don’t flame, I’ll reiterate that I’m asking genuinely...if I missed it and it’s a fair characterization of the site, then that makes sense. But if that’s just a hack, Trump-luvin’ cesspool (which it DOES seem, from this one view I’ve taken) can’t we just shoot straight and say THAT instead?

      It's not Q-Anon "conspiracy" but more anything not Pro-Trump is a conspiracy to deprive America of Trump's greatness.
