    This was probably the first AO pod I didn't enjoy. An earlier commenter appreciated the respectful disagreement. Perhaps you were being gracious hosts, and he is a friend of Ms. Isgur after all, but I felt the disagreement on the question of "getting the economy started again" was neither strong enough, pursued long enough, or explored in enough detail. Both David and Jonah have written forcefully and compellingly on this topic. David did plead for more data informing the discussion, but the compelling moral and human argument he's pursued elsewhere was largely absent. Instead, I got to listen to Rep. Roy make the same case at length that many others have been making over at Fox. Needless to say, if that's what I wanted to hear I could get that for free and need not have subscribed to The Dispatch. Perhaps that's the limit of disagreement and discussion allowed with an Honorable Representative. But if so, why have them on at all?

    Chip Roy has a whole lot to say about spending on NPR and PBS and not too much at all to say about the spending on the massive tax cuts under the W. Bush and Trump administration. Interested in crunching the numbers a bit there, Chip? I'd love to see some ratios =)

      How did you vote on the Trump tax bill, by the way, Chip? I don't honestly know, but if it was a yes vote, I'd suggest you have no legs to stand on when you talk about fiscal responsibility. Walk the walk, then talk the talk.

    Like the podcast but do have a bone to pick about claiming the shutdown is taking property requiring compensation. As you have pointed out in this podcast it is the states not the Feds that hold the legal rights. They are federal guidelines not laws. Therefore, if anyone needs to compensate businesses under this thinking it would be the various states. Let’s have a honest debate about how best to get out of this situation but lets not try to couch it “we deserve to be bailed out by the feds, it’s their fault”.

    Here is an topic for future podcasts. Given that talk about the government working to get the price of oil higher whether Trump talking to Russia and Saudi Arabia or calls for Texas to reduce production in the state. I would be interested about how these actions conflict with our monopoly/ price fixing laws.

    Another great pod. Thanks for the tiger king warning. On “getting the economy started again” it was good to hear respectful differences on how to view Trump’s “aspirations” for an early opening. As I mentioned in earlier. comments, I think judiciousness is vital for The Dispatch and we supporters in order to retain credibility for needed criticism of Trump. Calling it outrageous (not just wrong) for him to call for preparing to reopen or for using anti-malarials which Cuomo also favored, is over the top. Reasonable people such as Rep. Roy need to be listened to, even if we disagree. Going after Trump for things he didn’t do, such as trying to force states to open on his order, wastes credibility we need when he really IS outrageous...and we seldom have to wait long.

    This pod contributed to respectful disagreement rather than seeking to shame heretics. As Michael Brendon Dougherty argues at NR, a democratic society needs its sceptics, especially when data remains so uncertain. Thanks.

    I also watched "Tiger King" reluctantly after my niece begged me to. I am completely on Sarah's side in this one. Personally, I came away trying to comprehend how, as a nation, we still can't understand why teaching about procreation and birth control is a good thing......... most of the people in this horrid tale are simply awful, cruel, maladaptive, selfish, ignorant, humans and should not be passing their distorted values onto anybody.

    The discussion of payroll grants vs bankruptcy as legal frameworks to support the airlines reminded me of the post 9/11 grounding of all flights. As I recall, that lasted about a week. Any similar measures from that time we can look at?

    Rep. Chip Ross really lost his federalist street cred with his twisted rationalization of the “need for a national response” to the pandemic. Talk about back-sliding into justifying his own existence! Really sad to watch a first term congressman slip into bootstrapping arguments.
