Fact Checking Claims About Biden and Breyer’s Face Masks

The justice did not receive a mask the president had worn.

A video has gone viral on social media claiming to show President Joe Biden confusedly handing Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer a face mask the president had  used and walking away unmasked.

The mask Biden hands Breyer in the video is white, but the full video of the event shows Biden walked into the room with a black face mask on. Biden’s black face mask can also be seen in his hands in the viral clip.

When Breyer walked up to the podium he removed his white mask, placing it on the podium. He can be seen in the video walking away unmasked, and close examination of the podium shows that he left behind something white. It is clear that while Biden walked away unmasked, he did so with the black mask he’d worn earlier in his hands.
