    Thanks for the great Dispatch Live. Although, as someone who's in front of a monitor most of the work week, I typically try stay away from the computer in particular and news in general on the weekends, I would have tried to tune in had I been aware of this episode. I've been a full subscriber of Tim Mak's "The Counteroffensive" for some time now. Great show, and I agree with Jonah's assessment that supporters of Ukraine in both parties need to make the case, using the many points he stipulated, of why Ukraine not only deserves our help, but it's good for the U.S. as well, both short term and long term.

    One question I would have liked to ask is why the Ukrainian conscription age is so high? It's 27 years old, I believe. Why is it so controversial to reduce it to 25 during an existential war - existential at least for a free and sovereign Ukraine? When the U.S. had conscription, it began at 18 and registration is still required at that age, and I believe it is/has been similar in most countries. If young men in their prime fitness years aren't required to fight, how can the argument be made that anyone should be?

    Question about a rounding up support for a discharge petition… Aren’t there almost enough retiring Republicans who know how important the aid package is to make this happen?

      Unfortunately, we have seen some examples in recent years of retiring reps who still avoided "controversial" votes even when their history made it pretty certain they would have normally sided with the bipartisan consensus. I would have to check the names that came to mind b/c memory is a little fuzzy. Part of the issue is they still like being well-regarded by the team even when out of the spotlight. No idea if this is such a case as some Senators already took a stand.

    Jonah, your friends with "principled" opposition to aiding Ukraine bringing up the Russian Orthodox Church is a signal that their opposition is either actually in bad-faith or that they have sunk so deep into the pro-Russia mire on the right that their analysis isn't worth listening to
