    HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! Tennessean, former Georgian, registered Democrat who RARELY votes for Democrats. Is this the best you can do??? Why am I paying for a subscription to The Dispatch for this drivel? I can watch CNN for free to promote Donald Trump! I've met these Georgia Good Old Boys. Why are you giving this guy a free pass?

    THIS GUY has the reins to the GA GOP? And either is stupid or evil in either not knowing or trying to mislead his listeners into thinking what Trump did with his classified papers is equivalent to what Hillary and Biden (and noticeably unmentioned Spence) did related to classified documents. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt and say he's just a complete moron, but evil and misleading seems MUCH more likely.

    Only disappointment from the Dispatch is not pressing him on that and the other issues like the insurrection, etc.

    If this is the future of the Republican party (the idiots), then I'm OUT. Sheesh.

      But Dave, aren't you "LASER-FOCUSED" on "FIRING JOE BIDEN"?

      This is the future of the Republican Party. It has been since the nuts took over in 2016. (Did I mention "fire Joe Biden"?) I've been out since then. (Because "fire Joe Biden.") The sooner it dies, the sooner something better can be built. (Laser-focus!)

        Lol no. I'm more laser-focused on not hiring an experienced insurrectionist, liar, and narcissist.

        I have stayed so far, in my mind to support "the remnant" like Liz Cheney and there's no official party affiliation here since open primaries but yeah, what a complete tool. And he's not alone in the toolbox by any means! Ugh.

    The most frustrating interview I've heard in a long time. McKoon's evasive responses and downright fantastical approach to what has happened in the GOP in recent history (and is STILL happening) does not bode well for the party in Georgia.

    Starting off with a bang: Walker lost because of Duncan’s inferior #unity, but when it comes to Shafer failing to support Kemp instead of Trump’s Perdue - suddenly McKoon “doesn’t want to get into it”.

    Sure, Trump’s going to continue lying about a fictitious stolen election, and “fake electors” were obviously the honorable response when he was trying to steal it. Nuthin’ to see here.

    There is not enough lipstick in the world to fix that pig.

      The contents of this interview are emphatically newsworthy. Even if we want to recoil in disgust at it. This is telling us what the Georgia GOP is up to. It's not materially helping them in it.

      I have little doubt everyone at The Dispatch abhors what was said in this interview. But it's not the role of good journalists to only just say what we want to hear -- we also need to be told what we need to hear, what is important. And that this is the status of the Georgia GOP is important.

      This is possibly something no one else is really going to cover well. Either because they're in the tank for the Trumpists, or because they are so stolidly opposed to them that they refuse to inform us. It is to The Dispatch's unending credit that they did this interview, fully knowing they would not like what they would hear.

      I too was so frustrated. However, in listening, I have a better understanding on how GOP officials are knowingly allowing conspiracy theories to fester because it’s worth it “to kick out Biden.” I think the Dispatch does have a role in helping us understand the garage so that we are more prepared to talk about these festering conspiracy theories with our friends and neighbors.

    It’s been quite a while since I’ve literally yelled out loud in my car at a podcast. I’m a proud Southerner. Grew up in Georgia. Watched the Dawgs win the National Title in 1980. Love Herschel.

    But, McKoons is wrong about the last Senate race. It’s not that Republicans got it wrong by being honest about their candidate (in contrast to the silent cynicism of the Democrats in PA), it’s that CANDIDATE QUALITY MATTERS.

    Here’s an idea, McKoons: if you want voters to show up at the polls, find exceptional women and men to run for these extremely consequential offices, rather than continuing to make exceptions and excuses.

    Sandy Berger was criminally prosecuted. You might think he got a slap of the wrist and deserved more, but the fact is he was criminally prosecuted.

    And this idea that when a jury returns a verdict you disagree with means they were partisan is an idea that needs to die. If you want to know why Americans are losing faith in their institutions, it is this kind of pandering that Republican politicians are so fond of.
