A video showing President Donald Trump alongside family and aides in a tent went viral, with social media users claiming they were seemingly happily “watching the riot at the Capitol” and “gleefully partying from their secure bunker while the rioters they unleashed attack.”
The video itself is authentic, but it wasn’t taken during the storming of the Capitol. Screens in the video show that those gathered were looking out on the crowd that had come to watch Trump speak at the “Save America” rally that preceded the assault on the Capitol. A song can be heard playing in the background, “Gloria” by Laura Branigan, that was played at the rally shortly before Trump spoke.
