    Just a minor fact check ... the horseshoe crab is about 480 M years old, appeared in the Lower Ordovician period. ... also, since they are in the ocean, it might be rather difficult for them to get crushed by T-rex. That said, of course, the thrust of you point was correct.

    Many years ago, I remember reading some proposal that that the human race has evolved too rapidly,. On the other hand, seeing how technology has progressed so rapidly that many cannot keep up and often technology has displaced many people, I suspect the argument presumed minimal change. So we may not be evolving fast enough. Whatever the case, the rate of evolution (and especially adaptation) is very important. Too slow, and the adaptation will not be able to keep up with the change in environment, too fast may also have consequences, though I think they are less problematical.

    I’m gonna guess that the Oklahoma-based company producing Hard Knocks beef jerkey doesn’t send their glorious product up to Wisconsin, but I’d love to send some to Steve as he, like me, is a jerkey stan. It’s so good. I bet he’d be a fan of Hard Knocks like me.

    Steve is right about Trump. His grip on the party - and American politics more broadly - is slipping tiny bit by tiny bit. As much as some people, including many in the media, would love to believe he’ll be filling our headlines for the next decade, the world is moving on.

      Per Jonah’s comment in the last two seconds: If the J6 hearings did an actual trial by combat (say, between Donald Trump and Liz Cheney - my money’s on Liz), they would definitely get better ratings than the Depp Heard trial.
