    Looking forward to more, but my vote would be to drop the “phone call filter” for future episodes. It’s a fun setup gag, but it gets old fast if the entire episode sounds like that.

    First, I did think Trump would win the 2016 Republican primary right from the minute he swaggered down the escalator. I saw the reaction on Town Hall and NR, and I knew Republicans were in trouble. However, it did not escape my notice that 65 percent of the Republican electorate voted for other in the primary. I wasn’t so sure about the outcome of the 2016 general, but I should have noticed that when Trump stepped in a pothole……which was frequently, Hillary’s numbers didn’t really rise much.

    Fast forward to 2024. The Midterms primary was a mini repeat of the 2016 primary in terms of vote splitting in contests with a Trump pick and multiple candidates. JD Vance in Ohio only got around 33 percent of the vote, the rest distributed among the other contenders. Analyzing the vote splitting in the primary results, sure looks to me that the Republican majority isn’t buying what Trump is selling if there is a viable alternative. The 2016 primary didn’t really offer one viable alternative, it offered 16 alternatives with only a percentage point or two that separated them.

    2024 is different, there aren’t 16 candidates in the race all in close proximity, there is only three barely registering a pulse, and the one challenger who isn’t even in the race yet is polling in double digits not that far behind Trump. Don’t you think it’s possible that DeSantis numbers have dropped slightly because many perceive Bragg’s potential indictment grasping at straws, and not so much an endorsement of Trump? I may be out on an I despise Trump limb here, but I do believe that Trump looks formidable now because DeSantis isn’t officially in the race, once he’s in, and starts making a case, I think Trump’s fortunes drop. Trump was fired in 2020, and it took Republicans and Independents to make that happen. The majority of Republicans not only don’t want another four years of Trump, but they think he will lose in the general. Steve, my favorite steak is a nice Prime Rib, but I hear Chateaubriand is an excellent choice.

    Can we get bets going on this?? How else can we engage? I'm considering making a steak dinner for myself after the winner is determined to pair with this podcast and feel like I'm playing along.

    Hey... you guys swiped that phone call intro/outro from "Absolutely Mental", the Sam Harris/Ricky Gervais podcast series. (Of course, maybe they swiped it from elsewhere. It's a cute conceit... but maybe not if too many people do it.)

    I'm on Sarah's side of the bet. I think Trump will win the Republican nomination, but will lose the general election... unless Kamala Harris is still on the Democratic ticket, in which case, Trump may have a shot yet, God help us all.

    Technical grumbles for Adaam:
    The podcasts - some of them anyway - no longer indicate how long the episode is, and they also lack the "skip ahead 15 seconds" button. I hope these features will return.

      Your technical grumbles are well taken –– we certainly want to get these features back (we all need the X2 speed option, too!). We're looking at a few options for our embeddable player. We'll be experimenting soon. (Once we get a few other migration-related matters in order!)

    I have a suggestion with regard to the 2024 primary season: context reporting. Don't just say, "candidate X won their primary in Y state," put the numbers in perspective; "out of ZZZ registered Republicans in State Y, this many voted for the 'winner'."
