During his wild European vacation last week, Jonah didn’t follow the news too closely. To catch himself up, he invites The Dispatch’s own Andrew Egger back to the Remnant for some intensely rank punditry. Together, they explore the biggest and strangest stories currently unfolding in politics, including Kevin McCarthy’s bid for House speaker, Ron DeSantis’ attack on vaccines, and Donald Trump’s criminal referral. Plus, they offer some musings on the 2024 election and the horrors of Trump trading cards.

    At 59 minutes, Andrew says “they identify with Joe Biden” which he meant one way, but I took in a completely different sense…

    Good episode. I have no problem with Andrew being addressed as Egger, but have to admit that if Jonah is addressed as Goldberg I may starting chanting for him and hope he unleashes a Jackhammer on the guest...

    Andrew Egger's voice is a mix of basso profundo and a metallic mechanism unearthed near Roswell, NM. Egger's comments are pretty good (minus the ah's as we all have a bad habit of using) but his voice reproduced in earbuds can be difficult to hear and distracting to the topic. Is there some sort of magic audio filter to soften his tones ala Jonah's soothing syllables?

    I often hear that the Ron DeSantis fight with Disney failed. I look at the fact that Bob Chapek is no longer CEO of Disney. Yes, replacing a CEO always has a thousand causes. In the case of Bob Chapek, one of those causes was probably that the Governor of Florida fought back when Disney step into politics. Time will tell if Disney remains an outspoken critic in the political realm. For now, it seems that the stock holders of Disney are looking to pay more attention to their core business.

    I've been thinking about that discussion of the Rockefeller Republicans and the "Establishment." It just feels the conservatives won a long time ago, but couldn't accept victory. Having been a thorn in the side of GOP Congressional leadership so long, that's all they know how to be. It's like they need to have enemies inside the party.

    Well...let us discuss "bad boss syndrome". Look Mr. Goldberg the man works for you and his name is Andrew - damn fine name - easy enough to pronounce. I realize you asked if it was alright to refer to him by his last name, and he said... sure Mr. Goldberg anything you want; just pleased be here. What else is he supposed to say - I have worked for 'asshole' bosses and I would have said the same thing - got mouths to feed and bills to pay.

    So, I would say to you Mr. Goldberg, on Andrew's behalf, and for all those worker bees, please check yourself.

    The name is Andrew. Show some respect.

      To me, calling Andrew by his last name sounds like Jonah’s curmudgeonly endearment, not an insult. I didn’t think that Andrew disliked it. I don’t mind it when people call me by my last name.

    1) Great to hear your voice again after much deserved time off!
    2) Been meaning to comment for a while: don't stress about not filing columns or even having guests fill the Remnant while you're out. Not for our sake anyway. Enjoy life. Most of us can't keep up with our podcast queue as it is.
