    Regarding the Texas city debate:

    There are 4 seasons in Texas: almost summer, deep summer, still summer, and ice storm (that’s the non profane version)

    I’ve lived at least 2 years in every major Texas city (or at least a suburb of every major Texas city) with the exception of El Paso (which really is in New Mexico), and Lubbock obviously doesn’t count. Each city has the distinct disadvantage of being in roughly the same climate zone, though Dallas should get some credit for having a slightly shorter summer. I liked Dallas and enjoy visiting every time we go, even if it’s changed a bunch since we moved away 35 years ago. The food is better than your show so slanderously suggested.

    We lived in the outer reaches of northeast Houston in an area called Kingwood which was annexed in the late 90s and is really about 15 miles from the real city limits but is contiguously attached by H-town’s annexation of a canal. This was done presumably to avoid annexation of Aldine, a mostly working class, predominantly BIPOC (without the I) area less important to Houston’s ravenous tax collection strategy. Where we lived was 35 miles from downtown Houston and about 2 miles from Alabama. Kingwood was a food ghetto with pretty good schools. We moved.
