With the news that a U.S. drone strike killed al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri over the weekend, there are few people we’d rather hear from than our own Klon Kitchen. Klon served as the lead analyst at the Defense Intelligence Agency on al-Qaeda senior leadership, and in top positions working for the director of national intelligence and the director of central intelligence, before chairing the National Counterterrorism Center at National Defense University.
In this week’s Dispatch Live, Klon will join Steve and David to talk about Zawahiri’s death and the state of al-Qaeda and the jihadist threat more broadly. Who was Ayman al-Zawahiri? How did he manage to elude the U.S. for more than two decades? What are the implications of an Afghanistan that is once again a safe haven for al-Qaeda and like-minded jihadists?
That’s not all. The crew will also discuss Nancy Pelosi’s trip to Taiwan and China’s reaction to it, along with the continuing war in Ukraine. They’ll take your questions, too.
Tune in on August 2 at 8 p.m. ET on YouTube. Come with your questions, grab a drink, and settle in for a meaningful conversation.
