Has the Maricopa County Audit Yielded Hundreds of Thousands of Votes?

On April 23, Arizona Republicans began an election audit of 2020 election ballots from Maricopa County. Despite the fact that election results were certified in favor of President Joe Biden months ago, Arizona Republicans, peddling familiar election conspiracy theories, are insisting that Donald Trump won the state. Democratic Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs has called the audit, which is currently in process, a “farce,” according to CNN.

Despite multiple audits by Maricopa officials that found no evidence of fraud, the ongoing audit is looking at 2.1 million ballots and 400 voting machines for evidence of voter fraud.

In light of the Arizona audit, several Facebook posts have been widely circulating that claim several thousands of fraudulent have been found in the audit thus far. One such post says that: “Over 200 Thousand Votes Found So Far Today!”

This is a false claim.

  • Don’t be friends with people who consistently believe this stuff. Time for there to be social consequences for this crap.

  • Oh God please let this put this to bed once and for all. That's the only bright side.........that they show up and say "i'll be damned we didn't find anything"

  • This so-called audit is a transparent exercise in creatively reverse engineering fraud where none exists. Who knows what evidence they'll "uncover" (read: manufacture) but the results are a foregone conclusion: "serious questions [albeit unspecified] exist about the integrity of the election" or words to that effect. Whatever they say will have zero credibility beyond the already-convinced.

  • I follow this daily and it is a total mess, with no transparency. And at least one of the “volunteers” doing the counting was at the Jan. riot. Lots of issues with security and NDAs for the monitors. They are weighing paper, using UV lights to look for lord knows what.
If anything is reported from this, it will not be believed. It is really a sad joke.

    1. That volunteer was not only there on Jan. 6, he was ON THE BALLOT for the election he was helping to review. (He lost.)

    2. Sadly, it will be believed because so many want to believe it. There’s no joking about that.

    3. "using UV lights to look for lord knows what."

They are looking for two things... each crazier than the last.
      1. They are looking for secret Trump watermarks because... I have no idea. No ballots have watermarks, and you wouldn't need UV lights to see a watermark in any event.

      2. They are looking for bamboo fibers in the ballots... which in their minds would prove that the ballots were created in China (ignoring that the US grows bamboo also) and secretly shipped to Arizona to steal the election for Biden... because Hunter!!!

      1. What an absolute fiasco. I think these people watch too many movies

  • Excellent Fact Check!!

  • Republicans want to use this unnecessary audit as an off-ramp. By allowing partisan hacks with MAGA bona fides to conduct the procedure, a clean result just might help to quell the unrighteous anger of the duped. I'm betting they'll try to cook up serve face-saving ambiguities that won't be provable, but charging someone with actual "fraud" will lead them right back into the legal system, where they fared so well last Fall... Oh, wait.
