What does the future hold for both countries? Why has antisemitism become so prevalent? How’s Benjamin Netanyahu doing? And does the U.N. have any reason to exist?

    Just listened to this episode. I love Danielle. Rare individual that says what the heck she means and doesn't waste brain cells thinking of a euphemistic way to say something.

    I would like to hear Ms. Pletka talk about what the West can do about The Day After. It seems to me that a big part of why we're here is that it has been convenient for the West to ignore the fact that it was wrong for the Arabs to try repeatedly to wipe the Jews out, and that they therefore can't expect constant do-overs when they fail. UNRWA should never have existed; the reflexively anti-Israel bodies of the UN (basically, all of them) should be reformed or defunded; "de-Nazification" should replace the current hate-filled schooling and public square in Gaza and PA-land; Palestinians living in Jordan, Syria and Lebanon (for 3-4 generations, now) should be given citizenship in those countries. Not to mention treating Iran like the active enemy that it is.

    None of this necessarily requires the deployment of troops so much as a change in attitude and rhetoric. Europe has been *funding* Hamas -- directly or indirectly -- along with irridentism in the PA-controlled areas. America is now -- rhetorically, at least -- more concerned with not relocating any Gazans, getting Israel out as soon as the fighting's over, impossibly bringing civilian casualties to zero and getting them supplies than with actually defeating Hamas and returning the captives.

    Everything would look different if they would simply put some effort into these uncomfortable tasks.

    Finally listened to this podcast while transitioning the yard and facade from Halloween/T'giving to Xmas. Excellent! I'll likely listen a second time to maybe catch a little more nuance. Please have Ms. Pletka on again soon! And don't worry about the bleeps. Are we not all +/- adults at this point? And kids in the car will deal with it just fine.

    What are the after-war options? I'm just trying to understand what the end game is here for anyone. What other options does anyone else see as being possible.

    My understanding is the following:

    1. Status Quo - after this is over nothing changes.

    I see this as the most likely outcome.

    2. Israel kicks all Palestinian out and takes over the area.

    I find this one unlikely just because it sounds too familiar to what happened to the Jews.

    3. Israel massacres the Palestinians and then takes over the area.

    This is the least likely as it would be morally wrong and most likely other middle eastern countries would use it to attack Israel.

      What about Israel got a bunch of Palestinians to leave northern Gaza and before they return settlers appear?

    This was a great podcast, entertaining and informative. I really liked the discussion regarding 'what happens after the war', that's what I'm most curious about. It would be great to hear more discussion on that topic. Like Danielle said the war is the easy part, the reconstruction of Gaza is going to be the hard part.

    Isreal is really stuck between a rock and a hard place with no good solutions. I have a feeling Gaza is going to turn into a slog for Isreal for many years to come. Isreal will have to take care of an additional 2+M people until someone else can. Who that someone else is noboby knows.

    Really good. WTH is wrong with people who can't see the existential threats posed by Russia, China, Iran, and N Korea??? And that placation and appeasement only make things much worse in the long run??? Excuse the rant, but it just seems like so many in this country are blind and dumb as dirt.
    I feel slightly better now.

      Agreed! Indeed, should've ended with, "No you won't! This is a [bleeping] podcast!"

      I do wince when I hear very intelligent people, including our host but on this occasion his guest, say aloud in public: "Based on my Twitter feed ...."

      At least she didn't call it "X." Twitter delenda est.

      But that one clanged note didn't much detract from a full-throated set of arguments and observations that I enjoyed thoroughly. Ms. Pletka was a treat, despite the grim subject matter.

    Some of the best Remnants have been with those on different ends of the political spectrum. George Scialabba doesn't appear to do many podcasts, but reading his latest book Only A Voice, a collection of essays touching on everything from criticism of the Enlightenment to neoconservatives to Randolph Bourne (often from quite a different perspective than Jonah takes), I would think it be a great conversation if the Remnant were able to get him on.
