Dear members,
The newest episode of The Dispatch Book Club podcast is out now!
David Pietrusza, author of 1920: The Year of the Six Presidents, joins Sarah to break down the bitter presidential campaign battles among six once-and-future presidents. The two discuss the clashes between the titans of political influence and the parallels to today’s toxic campaign climate.
There are instructions below for how to add the private podcast to your feed or visit the show website here.
The discussion page for next month’s book, One Summer by Bill Bryson, can be found here. We’ll release that episode at the end of April. For that episode, Sarah will be chatting with fellow Dispatch staff members on an episode of Dispatch Live—a weekly live stream for members only on YouTube. So keep an eye out for more information on that soon.
Plus, we have more exciting podcast news!
Sarah and Steve have a running bet: Will Donald Trump be the Republican nominee for president in 2024? She says yes, he says no. The stakes? A luxurious steak dinner (and potentially the fate of the American experiment).
From now until we have an answer, Sarah and Steve will hop on quick calls to check in on the bet by reading the entrails of American politics. Polls will be analyzed and disputed, news contextualized, and vibe shifts explained. It will all play out on a podcast called High Steaks only available to paying members of The Dispatch.
Enjoy.
