Former South Carolina Gov. and GOP candidate Nikki Haley joins David Drucker to discuss why she’s still in the race, why her voters aren’t committed to voting for Trump if she drops out, and how the GOP  has changed from its small government roots.

    Interesting interview. The subtle part that jumped out to me is that Nikki was phrasing her campaign as something "new" when David might have mentioned earlier that she is basically in the same lane as a traditional Reagan/Bush conservative. At some point it would make sense to go back and remember the success of that era, not to deify Reagan or Bush, but to compare with what is not working today. Maybe she is thinking that MAGA is now the old "establishment" but I only hear those words from the castoff group. Just curious that a politician is afraid to mention that argument but prefers a "hey I have a shiny new idea, want to try this?" approach.

    As someone who loathes Trump and his populist know-nothing movement, but who also acknowledges an ability to extemporaneously string together two error free sentences should a prerequisite for the highest office in the land (which should of course disqualify Biden, though I think his administration is still far and away preferable to voting in an insurrectionist who would permit Russia to conquer Ukraine), I wish I could support Nikki Haley. But she just comes across as an empty suit who uses many words to dance around articulating clear positions in the hopes that she offends no one. She's exactly the type of hollow, pandering politician that gave Trump license to run as a break from the norm, and hearing her talk in bland platitudes for 30 minutes makes me almost sympathetic to Trump voters.

    Drucker is very good. He presents very professional and politely, but is simultaneously good at slipping in and advancing the next question when the interviewee’s answer turns to pabulum.

    And Jonah is right about broken primaries. Nikki would slay either Trump or Biden in a national election.

    David. excellent. The only question I wish you had time to ask is if she understands why and who Trump voters. I’d like to hear her answer.
    Otherwise there is a reason I am a supporter. Good job

    In reading the comments, I'm definitely in the minority. I came away totally unimpressed and a little baffled. Yes, she can articulate all the things she dislikes about Trump, Biden and Harris. She offered mostly meaningless campaign talking points to Mr. Drucker's great questions. I didn't hear any solutions that made me want to support her, other than that she's not Trump. She came across as rehearsed and shallow. It would have been nice to hear real solutions to the complex problems we face. This reminded me of Mr. Drucker's interview last year with Doug Burgum. Doug was great diagnosing the problems but had no implementable solutions.

    I love Mr. Drucker's interview approach and style. He's the best I've heard.

    Thank you Mr Drucker, a very interesting and telling interview. If Trump is re-elected and the Republican party finally totally implodes, perhaps Haley is looking down the road to being seriously involved with what may replace it?

    I still hold out hope against hope that somehow Haley will be our next president, but my goodness was “you can’t tell a group of Americans they’re wrong” hackneyed lol.

    Good interview. Haley is appealing, and her campaign drive is to admired. Let's all hope she can keep this going and make a difference.
