Did Bill Gates Test Unapproved Vaccines on Children in Africa?

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, through his foundation, has spent billions of dollars on health initiatives in developing countries, and amid the coronavirus pandemic has pledged funding for seven pharmaceutical factories so that when a coronavirus vaccine is approved, production can start more quickly. Those actions have opened him to claims that vaccination projects that his foundation funded had nefarious intentions.

In several viral tweets last week, Candace Owens, an author and conservative provocateur, accused Gates and the World Health Organization of experimenting with vaccines on children in Africa and India:

  • Certainly gives us information about Gates and Candice Owens to use when we must make judgments about what to do with them Thanks.

  • I figured it was a joke because I can't imagine any of their followers caring about what happens to brown kids in Africa or Asia.

  • The anti-vaxxers that not only claim the whole COVID project is a hoax and demand our society re-open, but who will also later fight and make up negative claims against the eventual vaccine that will make it easier to actually open more fully, deserve everything that happens to their family members. #ChlorineForTheGenePool

  • This really makes me angry. The Gates Foundation has done some incredible work around the world, not only in vaccination, but also in other areas that improve people's lives, including sanitation, education, and even nuclear power. They not only sponsor these things with cash, but they actually actively drive some of their projects. They have been instrumental in saving millions of lives and are actively working towards the worldwide eradication of several diseases that have plagued humanity for millennia.
Near as I can tell, Candace Owens, Rush Limbaugh, and Sean Hannity have done virtually nothing worthwhile with their lives. Limbaugh and Hannity have made their fortunes by spreading fear, hatred, and misinformation. With regard to recent events, they are likely complicit in the spread of this virus. They have not demonstrated any particular expertise or knowledge, nor have they attempted to recognize their ignorance.
By contrast, Bill Gates has emerged as one of the most trustworthy sources of good information on the topic. He has dedicated most of the past decade to understanding the area and is currently funding research and development, as well as the actual construction of vaccine manufacturing facilities.
One wonders how much (if anything) Hannity, Limbaugh, or Owens have donated to these causes.

    1. I agree. I would think wealthy, private individuals who use the wealth and standing to improve the living conditions of severely disadvantaged people would be commended by conservatives. The other option would be tax dollars used in government programs.

      1. Sorry for the late reply, but I think you misstate the alternative. In most of the countries where the Gates Foundation makes the biggest difference, the most likely outcome if the charitable giving is curtailed is for the victims of disease to suffer and die.

    2. I can't speak for Candace Owens or Sean Hannity, but Rush Limbaugh, for whatever faults he has perceived or otherwise, has donated an extraordinary amount of time, money and devotion to a number of charitable causes. To say otherwise is simply not to acknowledge the truth.

      1. It might have been unfair to lump him in with this. I would still like to reserve a special place in Hell for those people who diss Bill Gates for no other reason than Tribal allegiance. They know who they are.
