Hunter Biden reached a plea agreement with the Justice Department on federal tax charges and entered a probation agreement in relation to a gun charge. Sarah is joined by Jonah, Mike and Andrew to talk about the charges, its effect on Biden and 2024 and more.

    I cant decide whether sarah actually believes these ridiculous opinions that stretch credulity beyond the breaking point or if this is essentially an elaborate bit designed to appeal to the 5% of dispatch members who still harbor some fond feeling of trump / maintain that everything the Biden admin touches is wrong and evil.

    It’s is honestly quite off putting and the “I’m just being a lawyer” shtick doesn’t make it better. Always the most ridiculous double bank shot that says this is all Biden’s fault.

    Sarah’s statement that Biden shares blame (30-40%) for Trump’s prosecution over his careless handling and refusal to return the classified documents he took – yikes!

    It’s never Trump’s fault, according Republican leaders, it’s always the Democrats fault. Will this change when Trump gets prosecuted for Jan 6th? Sarah, would you say that Biden shares significant blame for a Jan 6th indictment as well?

    I appreciate Jonah’s take on those running against Trump who blame the DOJ, etc. for his legal troubles. Jonah points to the many opportunities they’ve had to get free of Trump, yet they keep defending him - and that by doing so they define themselves as beta, and enforce his stance as alpha.

      I thought it was particularly lame when Sarah suggested that the DOJ was at fault because they didn't take the time to explain things to the public (or publicize any plea deal they might have offered). The reality is that in today's polarized media environment, the only people who would have listened to that explanation don't need to hear it and the people who do need to hear the explanation would never be exposed to it.

    Good show! Ms. Isgur is a droll contrarian sometimes, which makes a nice pairing with Mr. Goldberg, as in this episode.

    You can't evaluate the Hunter Biden plea bargain without knowing (1) what's still on the table under investigation, if anything (I'm guessing nothing or next to nothing), and (2) the universe of additional crimes investigated and determined chargeable and provable, but that were given up by the government as part of the plea (which will now disappear from history).

    Regarding Trump's Fox News interviews this week: An astonishing number of guilty pleas are based on damaging statements, up to and including admissions, made by accused defendants after they've been arrested and Mirandized. Anyone with even a passing familiarity with the criminal justice system will confirm: Our prisons are filled with people who had the right to remain silent, but not the ability.

    Thus, I finally, with this indictment and interviews like this, begin to have hope that Donald Trump may become a genuine man of the people — the perfect representative of those around him, in the cells to his right and the cells to his left.
