    Not sure why I put Jameson’s in the “meh” category, but this podcast prompted another try, and I have no idea what drove my original judgement. So, thanks for helping me reconsider. Also, if you like Balvenie and The MacCallan, I would suggest Basil Hayden if you want to start on bourbon (which, Jonah, you had mentioned considering in the JoGo & Buts days).

    As for conspiracies, I recommend Bishop Robert Barron’s video where he mentions they are attractive because they allow people to see patterns and draw conclusions in a way that is naturally attractive (doing my best to summarize after all the Jameson’s, so sorry if I’m not doing it justice).     Am I living under a rock that I just don't see a lot of these kooky conspiracy theories reaching too far? Perhaps they're just thriving on the fringe but I plainly don't see Q-anon (that is just sci-fi) or KKK-grand wizard Steve Bannon ideas slithering their way into mainstream consciousness. Pretty creepy and it all makes me want to tip a Jameson. That said, there was a time when Obama's birth certificate was a baby conspiracy until, ahem.. some reality show stars decided to take it up.

      Dropping one's voice to a conspiratorial whisper for effect may work in person and with a distracted audience. On a podcast, when the listener is already paying close attention, it only makes it more difficult (on top of any existing deficiencies in the audio quality) to hear what is being said, and makes it necessary to fiddle with the controls to try to back up and replay, which often results in cursing, and I definitely don't whisper when I exclaim "will you stop #$%&^@! mumbling!"

      My younger (I guess) woke and radical acquaintances do not seem to claim the Liberal title. That's mainly Gen X and older in my little circles.

      Funny, I first heard the phrase "Liberal fascist" from my first roommate in the city, in the early 2000s. She was a UofC grad, left of center, but had a corporate job at a big consulting firm, tended to date commodities traders. She had been in a humanities dept, so guess she'd met a few LFs. I met them when I was in the Pacific NW, where they were almost the norm.
