Next Tuesday is Election Day in America. How the next Congress looks will come down to a few key races in a few key states. Join Sarah, Steve, and Chris Stirewalt as they break down everything you need to know about the midterm elections from across the country. They will be joined by Dispatch reporters who have been writing about those key races for months. And, as always, there will be plenty of time for the gang to take questions from members of the Dispatch community

    OK, yeah yeah yeah, election stuff. But let's get to the important stuff. Caseys is not just around in Illinois, downstate is crawling with them. My town of 8700 has THREE of them, and almost every small town has at least one.

    It's a pet peeve of mine when interviewers ask a question and then interrupt and answer for their guest. I want to hear what the guest has to say. Presumably you have other Dispatchers on the podcast to contribute, but they hardly had a chance. This has been an aggravation from the beginning of Dispatch Podcasts, which I otherwise enjoy. Sarah could be a fine host if she were more considerate of her colleagues.

    I could be wrong, but it appears that Chris stepped in with Sarah during the podcast. It felt like an oof moment from my end. If someone else didn’t catch it then I won’t bother trying to explain it. And again I may be wrong.

    The amount of cross talk made this one hard to follow at times. Perhaps the libations had an influence but not all participants were equally accomplished at not talking over others.

    Is this Price’s first appearance on TD Live? And for Audrey maybe second or third?

    Glad to see more inclusion of the younger crowd (Andrew and Declan are old-timers at this point - they’ve been around longer than almost anyone). I wish Price and Audrey had gotten to speak a little more, though.

    I live in WA State and I have to say I am surprised Steve and Sarah entertaining the idea of Tiffany Smiley winning here. I mean, it's pretty solidly blue state. Smiley is a very disingenuous candidate, but I admit, I am biased.

    Sarah and Andrew,

    We buy a white pumpkin and have the one year old finger paint on it. It of course turns into a giant purplish blob, but it’s a fun Halloween thing to do before they are old enough to carve.

    Can't speak for anybody else obviously, but I suspect I will vote a straight Democratic ticket because of abortion. I traded a weekend day to take Tues Nov 8 off work, so I will have a few hours at the coffee shop to do my research.

    Granted, I'm just educated enough to know that Biden has pretty limited control over inflation, gas prices, etc. Also, I'm nearly 50. Not sure young women are as motivated by this issue, and it's possible that many older women take a not-my-problem approach to abortion, but given how "Republican" women in my family have lamented about the fate of their daughters, not sure how many women don't take this personally. We'll see, of course. I don't have time for pollsters. Not sure who does.

    So, I will be surprised if abortion is not a major factor in this election, but I grant it could be a projection from my own experience.

    I would point out that I come from a family that is largely white with most college graduates first generation, so I wouldn't count on MAGA women not being shaken by Dobbs.

    Very interesting commentary. Always appreciate the depth of experience and attention given to the races.
    However, perhaps next time you can direct a bit more to Audrey. Every time she began to speak and there would be a flicker of light around her box, one of the other fellows would unknowingly jump in and redirect the conversation.
