The Dispatch Monthly Mailbag for November

Charlotte Lawson is up for the Monthly Mailbag.

Dear Dispatch Members,

A new month means a new Monthly Mailbag.

In October, Rachael told us about her career in political journalism, being a boy mom, and her favorite (and least favorite) craft beer. If you missed that, you can read it here.

Now, Charlotte Lawson is ready to answer your questions.

Charlotte is a reporter with The Dispatch. Before that, she earned degrees in history and global security at the University of Virginia (go Hoos!). Her reporting focuses on foreign policy and international topics ranging from strategic competition in the Arctic to the persecution of Christians in Nigeria. She was recently in Warsaw, Poland, for two weeks and is currently on assignment in Istanbul, Turkey.

Charlotte’s suggested topics:

  • Reporting from NATO countries during the war in Ukraine;
  • Navigating language barriers and making friends in foreign countries;
  • Turkish cuisine;
  • Shifting alliances in the Middle East;
  • Music and concerts! I’m a classic rock fanatic (the Rolling Stones, Dire Straits, Bob Dylan, the Smiths, and Johnny Cash are a few favorites), but love all genres.

Drop your questions for Charlotte in the comments below, and keep an eye out for an email with all of her answers in the coming weeks!

Please note that we at The Dispatch hold ourselves, our work, and our commenters to a higher standard than other places on the internet. We welcome comments that foster genuine debate or discussion—including comments critical of us or our work—but responses that include ad hominem attacks on fellow Dispatch members or are intended to stoke fear and anger may be moderated.
